A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE CLUB...

Pickie Bowling Club (1943 - 2018) 75th Anniversary.

2018 was a landmark year for Pickie Bowling Club as it celebrated its 75th Anniversary! To celebrate, special events were held, such as bowling matches featuring special guest teams, including an Ireland International 'select', in the Summer and culminating in a very successful Club Anniversary Dinner in the Autumn of 2018.

The Club was conceived in a café in the seaside town of Bangor in Northern Ireland on 7th August 1943 and was originally to be located near the town's Pickie Park (hence the name).  However the clubhouse eventually established itself in its current location on Broadway, between Ward Park and Bangor Golf Club on 5th May 1947.
In 1948 the original clubhouse was a Nissen hut but in 1960/61 the present clubhouse was constructed.

Its interior was extended and refurbished, most recently in late 2013 / early 2014, with the addition of updated locker rooms, a new lounge and a relocated bar, with a verandah bar being added to the exterior.
The club prides itself in being family orientated and often has family days in the summer months. It features large screen TVs and satellite programming, catering for all sporting tastes with Sky and BT/TNT Sport, in both lounges.  Regular events are held in its spacious Function Room (with adjoining kitchen facilities) and there's even a boules / pentanque "terrain", perfect for those balmy summer evenings!

(The Petanque club is run by North Down Petanque Club. Why not visit their website and contact them if you are interested, they can be found at http://www.northdownpetanqueclub.org )
